In 2019, an unlikely encounter led to a breakthrough when co-founders Ximena and Rom met through the Biomimicry Institute in France. They connected over a shared purpose for supporting the planet amid resource scarcity and environmental decline.

Ximena, a musculoskeletal therapist specialised in bone density, and Rom, an R&D director with 30 years of industrial experience, wondered: Could bone structures be applied to industrial manufacturing? They set out to find an industrial path to optimise material, taking inspiration from nature and founded Modulatio in 2022.
